MSI's choice (board maker, not a decision by Nahimic) to not use Nahimic on Tomahawk series of MBs. ask MSI support instead.
tried via MSI x570 Gaming Edge WiFi after lost sound completely (became garbled) tried doing system restore from a backup I had made earlier .. Win10 was unable to restore, did all I could think of..sent MSI support ticket..their response was sending me here (when I had told them I had already tried) up untill this point I had NEVER installed Nahimic (read too much problems related to its use / not able to use) surprise, surprise, does NOT work on a "supposedly" supported motherboard model (as stated above to another user)
MSI insists it MUST be used or sound will not work...have to jump through hoops of getting the driver, getting Nahimic, installing it, trying to uninstall it, than going to windows store, to be greeted with the "this is not compatible with your hardware" notification .. surprise..not really when on the windows store it says very directly Intel 8th generation .. I am on x570 which means, AMD AM4...top it all off, I was using the drivers I had used since late July into August 2019, sound was perfect, all of a sudden it "stopped functioning" properly..went to be on March 22, on the 23rd (2020) sound was messed up.
funny how "generic" driver makes sound (but it badly messed up in Chrome) but generic allows to play Diablo 3 and beyond it being quite loud, can for sure be heard (though sounds like in a drum all the time) voices are WICKED loud (cannot turn down) sounds (in general) same thing...everything else is almost a whisper .. I find it funny, as MSI "tech support" says cannot use sound, have to be Nahimic + Realtek or will not function ... funny that, seeing as trying to use as described leads to NO SOUND AT ALL
yes I have a hate on..am right !@# mad...Win10, restore not work, Realtek driver "standalone" cannot be found..then there is this "software" that supposedly needs to be used, yet does not work at all..it installs, that is about it..Realteck audio control panel (through windows store) allows you to test sound (which is crazy loud) but it does not allow any other sound to be made, watch online anything, or game playing...zero sound...even after checked to make sure volume sliders / speaker was set where it should be.
There is that, there is also the fact majority of "dedicated" sound cards simply no longer work in Windows 10 anymore either..even with drivers that are "compatible with" ... how terrible and pathetic MSFT made things for Win10..home-pro-whatever verison...terrible crying shame, forced updates break things as easy as they do (even without knowing they are installed/forced in the background...cannot restore when it itself is more often than not also broken.
@#$ @!#$ !@# all I can say right now .. beyond my word wall
This exact same thing is happening to me right now. X570 Gaming Edge Wifi. All working fine until yesterday. Reloaded RealTek and Nahimic drivers from MSI website and that seemed to fix everything. One day later I have no audio again.
im unsure if you fixed your issue or not, but if you download nahimic from microsoft store ect where msi wants you too, your pretty limited to how you can use an equalizer ect. i got my driver FOR THE SAME BOARD from...well i cant find it but the driver version and name of driver are, (IVE HAD NO ISSUES OTHER THAN WHEN PLUGGING HEADPHONES IN!) having to configure the software to run them correctly instead of muting one or the other. but i hate the nahimic software and the realtek audio console doesnt do anything other than take me to nahimic with no way to control eq effects other than voice, bass, and treble with a few things like sound tracker, and sharing but i can live completly without those... anyhow
-driver version, 6.0.1.8549
-directx version,12.0
-audio controller HD Audio
-Audio codec, ALC 1220
i took my time out to upload the driver for the audi manager ect itll install it all which im using which is here ill take the time out to attach a screenshot showing what audio manager it is. over look the nahimic crap in the background as i was curious to if it still sucked or not and...sure enough it SURE DOES! unsure if youll apperciate my efforts or not. but if you decide to try the driver out which is official btw, and is straight ripped from inside my program files, make sure to let others know. i cant find where i downloaded the driver from as revo uninstaller removed everything including my download folder?? and well...anyways googluck..
you can however,
get a cracked version of the software here, dont know the difference other than dolby is unlocked which is usually locked from microsoft, below is me showing it to be what i claimed. also, if you do download i left comments open. assuming i set it up right and thats you can download it at all be sure to let others know its not a virus or any b.s. like that.
Realtek FF03 HDA drivers are not compatible with your Gigabyte Z390 Aorus pro board, Andre.
Realtek FF03 audio drivers only have Nahimic 1.x/2.x support for certain MSI boards & laptops (and for certain ASUS ROG laptops & boards with Sonic Studio support)
you need a Realtek UAD driver with Nahimic 3 uwp support and UAD drivers have no FFxx designation and Nahimic 3 has to be downloaded from the MS store. and the only Realtek UAD audio drivers from Gigabyte only support certain AERO or AORUS laptops
maybe search the Notebookreview forum at forum.notebookreview.com and look for the topic called "Nahimic 3 on 'unsupported systems' "
well Andre, Nahimic 3 is officially supported on many 10th gen Intel Gigabyte AORUS & AERO laptops only, not on Gigabyte desktop boards
you could try this guy's modded realtek driver from github
Nahimic 3 is supported on the MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi board as indicated by MSI:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-X570-GAMING-EDGE-WIFI/Overview
if you go into msi downloads for that mb u will find that nah 3 is listed for downloading .. via windows store and i think aouther way
I have the B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC and it is on this list and on MSI's website, all drivers are installed yet it is still not compatible?
well Cameron you did not say which Realtek audio driver you have installed on your B450 Gaming pro carbon ac board. check in Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), expand the Sound, video and game controllers section and look for Realtek Audio or Realtek High Definition Audio and mention which version of that driver you have installed.
Nahimic 3 will only work with a recent Realtek HD "Universal" audio driver (UAD), not the older Realtek HD Audio (or what I call a non-UAD) driver like the 8619 version mentioned for the B450 board on MSI's web site. MSI has just released a v6.0.1.8703 Realtek HD "Universal" Audio driver yesterday. remove/uninstall any existing Realtek audio drivers, reboot & install the newly released 8703 UAD Realtek driver, reboot again for the new drivers to take effect.
also after installing the Nahimic 3 app from the MS store, reboot the computer once more as most of the time the Nahimic 3 app does not work right away and requires a restart
Seriously i jave the same problem. installed the 10th time a UAD realtek driver and nothing is working. i only get a clicking noise when i start my pc. why the hell isn't it working? Nahmimic also tells me that my driver or system cant cope with it. i really dn't know what to do, then to buy a new motherboard?!
On website it said B360M Mortar does support Nahimic 3, but I can't find it in this list. I tried to install it from Windows store, with all the latest driver installed, but it still said that my device is incompatible??
MSI was wrong on that one back then. the B360M Mortar motherboard really does NOT support any version of Nahimic. I recently checked MSI's web site and the "Nahimic 3" info was removed for the MSI B360M MORTAR board.
Yes after I filed a complain to MSI, for a week they ignored me, when I pushed again yesterday they finally removed it from the site. Problem is I bought Mortar just because of Nahimic and now turn out it doesn't have that feature. What can I do?
maybe ask this guy from this thread:
https://nahimic.helprace.com/i568-msi-z370m-mortar-nahimic-support
he recently got his MSI z370 mortar board working with nahimic 3 after MSI released new Realtek audio 8531 UAD drivers on the following link from MSI:
http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/realtek_nahimic_UAD_audio.zip
remove existing audio driver before installing this new one
otherwise, you can try to exchange the B360M Mortar board with a B360M Gaming Plus board, which officially supports Nahimic 3.
This is very weird for the MSI Z170A GAMING M7 because the UAD driver "realtek_nahimic_UAD_audio_6.0.1.8480" given by the MSI website actually WORKS with no problems with this motherboard..
Can you please update the app on Windows Store to add the compatibility with the newer version Realtek 6.0.1.8480 ?
Many thanks to you team !
Hi guys,
We just support models gave by MSI, i'm sorry if your model is not inside the support list...
You can ask to MSI if it can be possible in a close future to support them. It will be a pleasure if we can add them
