[UPDATED] How to recover Nahimic with one-click!

After a Windows update or an unexpected malfunction, Nahimic might fail to initialize properly and the following message could appear "Nahimic has failed to initialize". 

If you're experiencing any problem with Nahimic, you can try to recover Nahimic full functionality by using the attached Nahimic automatic restore tool.

Hello, when it comes to Huawei devices, you can utilize the Huawei PC Manager tool to reinstall the audio driver. Please first ensure that the audio device can produce sound normally.

For the Nahimic component, first make sure that the UWP is installed as version v1.10.1. Next, utilize the Nahimic Driver Restore Tool to reinstall the Nahimic Audio driver, and then restart the system.

I encountered the same problem. I found the Nahimic driver at:

I downloaded "A-Volute - AudioProcessingObject".

I extracted the files from the .cab file, clicked on the .inf file to install, and restarted the computer. After reinstalling Nahimic, I was able to open it !!

It may not suffice to update the APO file alone; please follow the installation steps below:

1) Make sure to update the Nahimic version to Nahimic 3 v1.10.1.
2) Please proceed with updating the Nahimic Driver Restore tool to version 1.5.The  Nahimic Driver Restore tool removes outdated Nahimic installation files from the system. It automatically detects and updates corresponding APO and extension INF files based on machine specifications.
3) Please initiate a system restart. If the critical driver update message continues to appear on Nahimic UWP, please try restarting the system again. We are currently enhancing the Nahimic Driver Restore tool to provide continuous updates.

After downloading, directly run NahimicRestoreTool_1.0.5.exe as an administrator, follow the next step of the operation prompts, until the installation prompts to restart Windows, Restoretool will prompt success after restarting;
If Nahimic3 is successful, you will see an exclamation mark icon appear in the SoundTracker feature, with version 1.10.1 indicating the upgrade was successful;
Because the Audio Service is too old, the Nahimic3 software still prompts "Critical Driver update required" after restarting for the first time. if you encounter a critical driver update message, it may be necessary to reboot your system. If the issue persists, please make sure that you are using Nahimic UWP version 1.10.1 and update the Nahimic Driver Restore tool accordingly. The reason is that we have updated the 23H2 support in accordance with the requirements of Windows, not only for the UWP part but also for modifying the APO in the device manager from a software component to Audio Processing Objects.

Hello everyone, I managed to resolve the issue on my system (ASRock Z790 Pro RS/D4). I checked the logs, and the PowerShell Community Extensions (Pscx) module was overriding Expand-Archive.

Removing the module was the fastest way to allow the scripts to run. The solution on the developers' side would be using it as Microsoft.PowerShell.Archive\Expand-Archive.

Looks like the Nahimic RT are working great with Asrock mobo, specifically mine B550M Pro 4(MicroAtx) as well.. No compilcated task,just uninstall and reinstalled it with a single take!

For anyone that has an MSI box and no restore works.  The answer for me is as follows after trying everything.   

1.Go back and DL your MSI drivers for audio and ALL THE NAHAMIC INSTALLERS from MSI.  also DL the restore tool 1.05 

2.Reinstall audio and ALL nahamic installers oldest to newest..  Even if they fail. 

3.Then you have go to MS store and install the Nahamic 3.x app on there.  The MS store step here is VERY important since MS store seems to fix something nothing else ever did.  A simple search for nahamic in msstore will find it.  This step is what turned the corner for me.

4. Then run the restore tool 1.05.  - 2 more reboots.  yep about 6 total.

This finally got my LONG dormant nahamic working again.  Then no matter what dont update nahamic or audio drivers ever again.  Or wish you hadnt since support for nahamic is so poor.  The only way was those steps in that order.  with a reboot after each step.  always fun.  I hope this help anyone since noone at nahamic was ever any help.

One tech told me to go into my device manager and delete anything with the word "nahamic" in it.  Device manager is the beating heart of your PC and no place for a novice with crazy instructions like that.  And doing that wouldnt matter anyway, he was an idiot.  It took like 3 months to figure this out totally on my own.after nahamic and MSI support both failed me miserably.  

I hope this helps someone else only reason I wrote this.

Good luck.  Youll need it.  If u ever get sick of nahamic, FXSound is pretty good alternative.

Please contue supporting the sound-tracking radar, preferably including it in the Sonar software so people like myself with hearing impairments don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a laptop in order to level the playing field.

I am looking at buying a $4000 laptop solely to use the Nahimic sound tracker software as I'm deaf in my left ear which is incredibly frustrating when playing FPS games with my friends and dying not because I've not heard the enemy, I do with my right ear. I was looking left instead of right as I couldn't hear the direction of the sound. The Nahimic sound tracker software would be a dream for me as I could see on the sonar the direction of the sound. It would even the playing field.

However, 9 days ago, someone on youtube commented the radar is no longer included?? Is this true? I don't want to spend thousands only to find I'm no better off.

Radar sound is not working for any games I have tried yet on the Windows Nahimic app. I fear it is discontinued.

Please do not spend thousands of US dollars on a new computer. Have a friend build you a tower set up. Far less money, same gaming performance/ or better.

Hello friend, I think it’s best to check out the laptop current edition specs, MSI/Legion, for more in depth info. I have Lenovo’s Legion5Pro Gen 7, it’s got the Sound tracker engine feature that can be controlled from Nahimic console. I really can’t do without using sound tracking in most of my 3rd person games, either I’m going it with chaos or stealth.

But if you want a beast as a laptop or Pc that’s worth it and quells anything, you should check out “xotic pc” they’re the best I’ve come across on the internet! They’ll serve you right with detailed specifications, you can go through reviews on trust pilot before visiting their site.

When I received an error, I used the restore tool, but I did not get any results. I tried a few different ways. I wanted to install and try old versions of Nahimic. When I installed the old version, I first received an error, so I updated it to the new version with Nahimic Companion. I restarted the computer and it was now working normally, at least for now.

Hello there!


I have an issue with the app after my laptop updated to the latest Win 11 versión (23H2) a few days ago. When opening the app it shows the error message discussed, and as it is suggested I have already run the Nahimic automatic restore tool. However, instead of helping me get the issue resolved, the tool completely deleted the app an all its components from the system, and after a few minutes of having it running the PC shows a blue screen with a sad face and showing there has been an error and the system needs to restart. 

And there's where I am, it's a loop, it dosn´t matter how many times I run the restore tool, how many times the PC restarts or even if I uninstall/reinstall the app, it wont work. I already checked  Windows Updates looking for any driver update, also looked under device manager and everything seems to be working right but the app, it is not working anymore. Can you please help me? I would really appreciate it!!

- The app came installed by default on the PC and it was working right every time, and I haven't had any system issues of any kind until now :/

Thank you! I reinstalled my Legion 5 Pro with Lenovo Recovery Tool, and it was missing the companion app. Running this tool fixed the problem!
