[UPDATED] How to recover Nahimic with one-click!

After a Windows update or an unexpected malfunction, Nahimic might fail to initialize properly and the following message could appear "Nahimic has failed to initialize". 

If you're experiencing any problem with Nahimic, you can try to recover Nahimic full functionality by using the attached Nahimic automatic restore tool.

Hi, I have MSI Meg z790 Godlike Max motherboard and I have a critical update pending. Just reinstalled my windows 11. The GenericNahimicRestoreTool is not working. Here is what the log file shows:

This is consistent with the log that Nahimic does not support the MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX. The MSI support site does not list Nahimic software either.

I am pretty sure it always worked on this PC. Just after windows reinstall, it cannot detect it.

your Asus Tuf gaming B550M-Plus board uses "DTS Custom" audio enhancement as mentioned on the Tech Specs page on the Asus website, NOT Nahimic audio.  please download & install the original audio drivers for that board from the Asus support site and disregard & avoid using Nahimic.

Nothing working, after couple month on new pc it wanna to update what broke yourself, and nothing help, this app, clean reinstall, registry clean etc. I surrender and using now FxSound.  oh and should to delete service what silently working after uninstall like virus. good luck.

To me. The solution was as simple as Run Manually the service.
Idk why it doesnt start autmatically [even if i select it that way].
Bun whenever i want to use the software i run the service manually

NahimicService usually does not need to be manually started. Try upgrading this GenericNahimicRestoreTool to APO 4.15.4.0 and then restart the operating system.

1. Full uninstallation

Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, then uninstall:

  • ✅ Realtek Audio Driver

  • ✅ Nahimic Companion (if present)

➡️ Then restart your PC.

2. Download official MSI drivers

Go to your laptop’s official support page:

This step is crucial to re-enable all functions and restore compatibility.

4. Check that required services are running

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter.

  • Make sure these two services are present and running:

    • ✅ NahimicService

    • ✅ NahimicSvc64

5. You’re done! Nahimic is now fully functional

  • Equalizer, Surround Sound, Volume Stabilizer all working

  • Voice, Bass, Treble adjustment available

  • No more limited interface or missing features

💡 Extra tip: prevent future driver overwrites by Windows

  1. Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings

  2. Open the Hardware tab → Click Device Installation Settings

  3. Select: ❌ No (your device might not work as expected)

  • MSI GF63 Thin 11UC (Intel 11th gen, RTX 3050)

that is because your MSI Pro H610M-E board does NOT officially support Nahimic at all and will always fail to install (and technical specs page of your board on the MSI web site does not even mention Nahimic as well).  you need certain "Gaming" series of MSI motherboard to use Nahimic, so get a different MSI board

I have a new MSI Raider 18HX AI and am having trouble installing Nahimic after restore.  It fails no matter what I do.  I always get critical system update needed.  The service doesn't install.  I cannot install version 9809 of the Realtek audio either.  it says that there are no audio devices.  I was able to install version 9448. Any assistance would be helpful.

Am getting the same  error - are you using a local account?  btw my Laptop is an MSI Alpha17c7VF - and it came installed with Nahmic - previous  MSI laptops  including a GE73 Raider also had it but gave no issues,  am  not happy its bust again for the 3rd time in 6 months!!!! , the generic tool fixed it the 1st time but failed the 2nd time but the MSI tool worked that time but this time nothing works and cant download from the microsoft store as I use a local account so it cant be fixed this time as nahmic does not provide the drivers anywhere else..., and before you ask the machine is fine besides a busted Nahimic, I manually do integrity checks and do fortnightly backups there are no signs of corruption exposed sfc and dism - just what appears to be timebombed software which need updates that are locked behind the microsoft store forcing you to login with a microsoft account -  am not a happy customer!

i fix it  go to msi  global official support  r download any  driver of msi thin laptop or any laptop  choose  driver chooose windows version  then    audio   nahimic restore tool

Run the tool just press yes  it  will fix any codec and it will  start clean install

it will remove your old APO

Now  reboot  and use generic nahimic restore tool from here  installing this will install new APO reboot should work

This experience sharing is truly excellent! The drivers of APO are usually distributed to PCs via Windows Upgrade, but not all PCs can complete the upgrade successfully at one go. In particular, there is a dependency relationship between the APO driver and the audio driver. If the Nahimic GUID is not successfully registered by Realtek's EXTENSION (for OEM customized versions). No matter how you install the Nahimic driver package, it will not enable Nahimic3 UWP to work properly.Therefore, it is recommended to first ensure that the correct Audio Driver from the OEM is obtained (make sure this driver supports NahimicAPO), and then install the Nahimic Driver.

ASRock B550M Phantom Gaming 4 Motherboard

I downloaded the Realtek and Nahimic audio driver from the download section of my motherboard, installed it, opened the Nahimic application, it asks to install a critical driver update and leads to this Nahimic knowledge base site with a request to download GenericNahimicRestoreTool_v1.0.1.exe, downloaded it, opened it, pressed the install button and it says "Installation failed", pressed "Save Logs", opened the logs and at the end it says "The audio devices are not detected, or your PC might not be Nahimic platform product.
Please restart your system and run the tool again." I tried the advice from here from the messages below, read Reddit, did not help.

This message indicates that either your device's codec hardware ID is mismatched with any of Nahimic products or there was something wrong happened on the codec device. You can check the "Device Manager" and find the Realtek audio device to see if it is working as expected.

If the problem persists while Realtek codec is working correctly, please "Submit a Request" (upper right of this page) attaching the logs to us for further analysis. Thank you.

Contact Asrock support and ask them to release new Realtek audio drivers and new Nahimic APO driver packages for your B550m phantom gaming 4 board.  Asrock's Nahimic utility download packs & audio drivers are about several months outdated.

try the following Realtek audio driver versions from Asrock: 6.0.9757.1 or 6.0.9780.1.

Asrock has not provided updated Realtek audio drivers for the B650 LiveMixer board for more than two & a half years (the ones listed for that board on the Asrock support site are really outdated)
Try updating the Asrock based Realtek audio drivers to either 6.0.9703.1 or 6.0.9731.1 first, reboot and then retry running the latest GenericNahimicRestoreTool.exe file to download & install the latest Nahimic APO components and reboot again

To improve audio on Linux, there are alternatives like EasyEffects, but the simplest solution to enhance audio on Linux is JamesDSP.   JamesDSP> Equalizer > Enable EQ > Clear.

such errors are likely due to Windows OS corruption with the .NET framework components.  re-install Windows either by in-place upgrade repair or do a "clean" fresh install of Windows.

yea I get the same problem but not always (like intermittently).  seems to be a bug with the latest Nahimic uwp app sometimes not accepting nor working with the latest APO3 (v3.7.2.0) driver.

doesn't seem to be a problem for other MSI based systems using the latest Nahimic app and newest APO4 driver (v4.12.4.0 or v4.12.5.0).

MSI B450 & X570 boards require a Realtek audio driver with Nahimic APO3 (won't work with Nahimic APO4 driver).  tried latest Realtek audio driver from MSI?

maybe wait for another updated Nahimic app and updated APO3 driver to be released to fix the problem.

after further inspecting, I found out that the A-volute Lenovo extension INF file "AVoluteNH3Ext.inf" will NEVER install nor register onto the Lenovo IdeaCentre Gaming 5 17IAB7 computer, due to the ID 17AA3754 being "incorrectly" listed in that AVoluteNH3Ext.inf file.

The original & updated Realtek audio driver INF files from Lenovo for the 17IAB7 pc (HDXLV.inf & HDX_LenovoExt_AVO_V4_REN_ONLY_RTK) appear to have ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0623&SUBSYS_17AA3754" on there BUT the A-volute extension INF file AVoluteNH3Ext.inf is looking for "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0897&SUBSYS_17AA3754" and this is a serious "mismatch"; the SUBSYS ID or "subsystem ID" 17AA3754 is correct but the "device ID" or DEV ID listed is "incorrect."

BIG FAT FAIL on the Steelseries/Nahimic software dev team for getting the "device ID" or DEV ID wrong (or perhaps a mis-communication between Realtek, Lenovo and Nahimic) for IdeaCentre Gaming 5 17IAB7.  only HWID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0623&SUBSYS_17AA3754" is mentioned in the Realtek audio drivers BUT NOT ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0897&SUBSYS_17AA3754"

need to wait and see if the Nahimic SW dev team will "correct" and change the specific ID in an updated version of the "AVoluteNH3Ext.inf" file for "17AA3754" to use DEV_0623 instead of DEV_0897.

in fact the MSI-NahimicRestoreTool-APO3-SWCv3.7.0.0-EXTv1.2.0.0.zip package is available directly from the MSI web site and it's best to download it from the MSI site instead of from the "questionable" & slow Baidu site.  geez.

edit 11/8 - I'm still waiting for nahimic support to provide an APO3 v3.7.2.0 or newer driver instead of the v3.7.0.0 version which is now outdated

Nahimic is deactivated in dispeling noise from microphone, and I need to know if smart mode is really activated. Besides, radar is also useless. I don't want to keep Nahimic companion and restoretool in my computer, I want them added to main application otherthan appear as independent apps. I hope you can fix these problems.

If you can't fix, please don't send and auto-install any Nahimic kit for my computer throught MicrosoftUpdate.

you need to contact Lenovo support and ask them if they will provide an updated Realtek audio driver for your Lenovo Legion 5 Pro-16ACH6H Laptop that will work correctly with the newest Nahimic APO drivers and for updated versions of Win10/Win11. the Realtek audio drivers currently provided on the Lenovo support site for Legion 5 Pro-16ACH6H laptop seem to be outdated and may not work with the recent Nahimic software.

try this realtek audio driver from Lenovo - it's version 6.0.9679.1; compatible with Win11 24H2.  install this audio driver first, reboot and then run the Lenovo-NahimicRestoreTool-APO4-SWCv4.11.6.0-EXTv1.2.56.0 package and reboot again

windows needs to install A-Volute driver check your updates history to see that if this driver is there or not or install it manually from here Microsoft Update Catalog

Please remember to restart your computer after the installation is complete, and confirm that nahimicservice is running correctly in the windows service. If stop appears, please restart it.

The current situation may be attributed to an incomplete installation of the Realtek audio driver. I would recommend downloading the audio driver from the official website and performing a reinstallation, then try running nahimic one-click install

I am from China, and my computer is a MECHREV Jiaolong 15k. I have reinstalled and updated the latest version of Windows 11, but every time I try to install the driver installation package on the official website of MECHREV computers, it fails with "The device seems to be NOT compatible...". In this step, I selected 'Yes', and then it asked me to restart. After restarting, I didn't see the nahimic driver. I tried many times, including various methods and tools mentioned in the community.

MECHREV Jiaolong 15k uses Nahimic APOv4 products. You can download the Nahimic one-click install installation file from here to try to repair it:

I reinstalled the "Realtek 9608 driver" as you instructed, and then installed the "Machenike-NahimicRestoreTool-APO4-SWCv4.11.6.0-EXTv1.4.16.0" again, but the results were still the same as shown in the picture.

I think you gave G DanielDaquan the wrong Nahimic APO4 driver package.  the Mechrevo Jiaolong 15k uses an "Uniwill" Nahimic restore APO4 driver, not Machenike as I downloaded & checked the original drivers from the Mechrevo support site (unless somehow the manufacturer turned out to provide the wrong Nahimic APO4 package)

Thank you for your enthusiastic response. G. Daniel Daquan provided me with a remote machine for analysis, which unfortunately was installed with 'Creative' products instead of Nahimic products.

Regarding MECHREVO that you mentioned earlier, it does offer an alternative version. Thank you for reminding.

and the Creative software needs to be fully removed/uninstalled first before installing the Nahimic software

If nahimicservice still does not appear after running Nahimic one-click install, it means that the system audio driver has not been updated normally. This may be related to the Realtek and ISST driver.

Please make sure to download the correct Realtek and ISST driver from the official website and install it, and then perform Nahimic one-click install.
